Facilities

St Laurence's College offers outstanding facilities across one purpose-built and thoughtfully designed campus, harnessing the perfect blend of original buildings and modern, student-centred learning spaces. 

Br Adams Administration Building

The Administration Building was one of the original two buildings built on the school site. Up until 2009 it was the Monastery, home to the Christian Brothers who ran the school.

Today it contains the College Reception, Student Services, the Principal’s Office, the Studies Office, Enrolments, Finance, the Development Office, the Communications and Events Office and the Boardroom.

Chapel of St Laurence O'Toole

St Laurence O’Toole Chapel is the spiritual centre of the College community and is a place of liturgical celebration and personal prayer. 

The Chapel is the centre of the College’s liturgical and choral music. It is the rehearsal space for choirs, organists and liturgical musicians.

Brother Hogan Building

The Brother Hogan Building was named after the first Principal of St Laurence’s College Brother Joseph Hogan.  In February 1914, Archbishop Duhig was given instructions to plan for a fine school at South Brisbane.  The foundation stone was laid by Archbishop Duhig on the 11 July 1914 and opened on the 11 April 1915.  The Architect, Thomas Ramsay Hall, was a well-known Brisbane architect and practised in the firm of Hall and Prentice.

The original Portico was rebuilt in 2015 - the Colleges Centenary year - and now houses the memorial brick wall.

In 2017 the building was renovated to house the St Laurence’s College Primary Precinct.

Ian McDonald STEM Building

It towers over buildings, gleams under the sunlight, catches the architectural eye in terms of design and provides a state-of-the-art STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Building for students and staff at Lauries.

Built where Br Brady Hall and the original College Pool once stood, the Ian McDonald STEM Building houses more than 638 lessons per fortnight for students and features three levels of state-of-the-art, modern facilities and a design conducive to the academic pursuits of every student. The STEM facility holds 14 multipurpose teaching labs, three experimental POD testing rooms, open workspaces for science educators and lab preparation rooms.

The Ian McDonald STEM Building adjoins the Sports Centre, designed by Conrad Gargett, and was officially opened and blessed in 2017.

Sports Centre

The newly re-developed Sport Centre houses a brilliant, large sporting space for more than 54 classes and stands tall at over 20 metres above ground level. Features include change rooms and toilets for home and away teams and referees, offices, a sports hall, 220-person spectator seating and bathrooms, and a weight room/gym overlooking the sports hall.

The Sports Centre adjoins the Ian McDonald STEM Building, designed by Conrad Gargett, and was officially opened and blessed in 2017.

ERPAC

ERPAC is home to Brisbane’s only dedicated 1,500 seat raked theatre. The event and conference space aims to provide a vibrant, modern and professional destination.

Overlooking the picturesque Brisbane CBD, the ERPAC Foyer and Forecourt offers the perfect space for functions, conferences and meetings.

Situated on Level 5 of ERPAC, the Boardroom, with its own balcony overlooking the Brisbane CBD district, is a dedicated meeting space catering for up to 30 people. The Hall of Fame is also located on this floor.

ERPAC is used for College events and functions and is also available for hire to external parties.

McElligott Theatre 

McElligott Theatre and the Brady Building provide excellent facilities for St Laurence’s College Visual and Performing Arts students.

McElligott Theatre provides a 240-seat multi-purpose theatre equipped with stage lighting and technology. This, together with three large studios in the Brady Building, cater well for the Drama and Dance students.

ITAD

The Industrial Technologies and Design (ITAD) Centre underwent a complete refurbishment and renovation in 2013.

The state of the art building caters for the industrial technology, engineering and graphics requirements of St Laurence’s College.

Industrial workshops make up the ground and basement levels of the building. The upper level of the ITAD Centre features Graphics, Design and Information Technology rooms.

Br Campbell Resource Centre

The Brother Campbell Resource Centre provides access to written and electronic resource material for students.

The upper level of the building has recently been renovated to provide state-of-the-art learning spaces, conducive to 21st Century learning. The ground level of the Centre houses the College book collection and also has two dedicated teaching and learning spaces. The lower level of the building houses St Laurence’s College textbook book room.

Gair Field

Occupying one hectare of land, and situated above the 1,500 bay Hancock Street Car Park, Gair Field offers a one-of-a-kind sporting and event venue.

Overlooking Brisbane CBD, this facility is marked with a 300m running track, eight 100m sprint lanes and three touch football fields, and is used for sports training and HPE lessons.

Primary cricket can play two games simultaneously in the space and it is also used as a play space at break times for the students.

Gair Field has also been used by world-renowned football, rugby, cricket and futsal teams.

Runcorn Sporting Fields

St Laurence’s College Sporting Fields are located at 18 Nathan Road, Runcorn.

The grounds comprise of nine fields that cater for cricket, football and rugby and are all easily accessible from the railway station.

The Sporting Fields are complemented with onsite change rooms and the Brother Ryan Centre. 

This facility has a function room with a professional kitchen and a canteen.

Camp Laurence

Camp Laurence is located on the scenic shores of Lake Moogerah at the base of the Great Dividing Range in the beautiful Scenic Rim.

The Camp is approximately 90 minutes’ drive from Brisbane and Toowoomba and about 50 minutes’ drive from Warwick.

Established in 1975 as an outdoor recreational and educational extension to St Laurence’s College in South Brisbane, it is an excellent resource for students to use for outdoor activities.

A dining hall, modern kitchen, ablution block and dormitories can accommodate 170 plus students. There is a playing field and camping space for more than 200 students as well as high and low ropes that are set up for outdoor adventure education activities.

Camp Laurence hosts St Laurence’s College Year 5 to 11 camps throughout the year.

Archbishop O’Donnell Building

The Archbishop O’Donnell Building caters for a range of areas and subjects for student requirements at St Laurence’s College.

This building recently underwent a full refurbishment, replacing science labs (when STEM opened in 2017) with additional modern classrooms.

The basement level of the building also houses Café Edmund, the College’s Printroom, ablution facilities, middle and senior school offices and SCIPS (an industry placement organisation).

Archbishop Duhig Building

The Archbishop Duhig Building is the biggest teaching space in the College. With 24 well-equipped classrooms, the building provides teaching and learning facilities for school students.

Br Grundy VAPA Building

The Brother Grundy Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Building provides facilities and creative spaces for Music, Media and Visual Arts studies.

Music students are equipped with four music/band rooms and a number of tuition rooms available for classes, rehearsals and tuition.

A modern editing suite, film studio and two well-resourced classrooms provide excellent facilities for the College’s talented Film, Television and New Media students.

Visual Art students are also catered for with four art rooms and a multimedia/design room equipped with computers and editing software.

The Lauries Shop

The Lauries Shop carries a full range of St Laurence’s College uniforms, stationery and merchandise available to all parents, students and Old Boys. 

The Lauries Shop is open from 7.30am – 1.30pm, Monday to Friday, during term time and is located on the bottom of the Br Brady Building, between McElligott Theatre and the College Canteen.

The Lauries Canteen

St Laurence’s College has a self-service, cashless tuckshop that provides breakfast, morning tea and lunch for the students. Students are required to use their ID card as a debit card to pay for meals.

This provides quick and easy service, and through the Web Portal, parents can view purchases, set spending limits and dietary or allergy alerts, ban items from sale and top up the balance on the student account.

Our Canteen Convenor manages The Lauries Canteen and supervises a dedicated and friendly group of volunteer parents and part-time employees, who do a great job for the boys and staff.
