Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) Education Award
The Australian Defence Force Academy Education Award is presented annually to Year 12 students in recognition of leadership potential and academic and sporting achievements during Year 11. The award comprises of a laptop computer and certificate for you, along with a plaque of recognition for your school. It is presented to you on behalf of the Navy, Army or Air Force if you’re one of the 120 most suitable applicants who have applied for entry to the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA).
To be eligible to apply for the award, you must:
- be studying Year 11 subjects that meet both the educational qualifications for admission to the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and single service requirements.
- submit an application prior to 31 December in the year you complete Year 11.
If you are successful, you will only receive the award if you are enrolled in Year 12 at the time of the award presentation and you meet the age requirements for ADFA entry. For further information and to apply, visit the ADFA website or contact your local recruitment office on 13 19 01.

UQ Medicine Information Events
The University of Queensland will be holding a UQ Medicine Information Evening for students and parents interested in learning more about pathways into their medical program. The event will be offered in a virtual format on Wednesday 26 April or an in-person format on Thursday 27 April. Please use the above link for further information or to register.
UCAT
Students looking to gain entry into provisional medical courses or dentistry courses may wish to sit the UCAT. The UCAT is a requirement for entry into a large number of these courses throughout Australia and some in New Zealand – click here for a list of courses at various universities that require the UCAT to be completed to be eligible. Applications to sit the UCAT opened on 1 March and remain open until Wednesday 17 May, with testing held between 3 July and 12 August. Griffith’s Creative Arts Open Day
You can explore your passions and potential career paths at Griffith's Creative Arts Open Day on 21 May at the South Bank campus. Get advice on your study options at Griffith’s Open Day and Creative Arts Open Day, designed just for those thinking of a creative industries career. Grandshake Virtual Work Experience
Grandshake is a company that offers Virtual work experience opportunities for students in Years 10 – 12, partnering with companies such as Inland Rail, Cardno, AI Group, Consult Australia and ARTC to offer experiences such as:

- Communication and Sustainability Cadet
- Junior Environment Planner
- Civil Construction Cadet
- Junior Digital Engineer
- Drone Pilot
- Electrical Technician
Grandshake has partnered with industry to design real-world projects that students can work on virtually, connect with industry partners and earn micro-credentials (in the form of digital badges, which can be added to LinkedIn Profiles). The programs require approximately 10 hours of commitment and are free for students to enrol in.
