Dean of Primary - Term 3 Edition #2
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
The last two weeks have been extremely busy for both year levels. Last week, we celebrated the fantastic academic achievements of many boys from Semester One. The Academic Assembly and afternoon tea last Tuesday provided a great opportunity to acknowledge, celebrate and congratulate boys who achieved personal excellence in Semester One. We congratulate all of the boys on the award winners list HERE and encourage all boys to strive for their best in Semester 2. Well done, boys!
Term 3 studies are in full swing also, with outstanding work occurring in all classrooms. Year 6 have had several presenters come in to support their study of weather, government, law and personal development. Our Year 5 boys are also participating in excursions, having attended the Planetarium last week and looking forward to visiting the Brisbane Synagogue this week. Experiences that support classroom learning provide depth and richness to the learning process.
This week’s highlight was the Year 5 Music Concert on Wednesday night. Congratulations to all the Year 5 performers and the staff who supported them. They all sounded great and showed off their skills developed in the MEP this year.
In the next two weeks, we will celebrate some significant community events. On Wednesday, we will gather at our sports field at Runcorn for the “House” sports day. It is great community day for the boys to compete and to bring families together.
On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday next week many Primary boys will perform at the QCMF. The boys have been amazing at rehearsals all year and we look forward to some great performances across the festival schedule.
We hope all families enjoy a mini break after the Sports day. A reminder that 11-12 August are school holidays and there is no school sports next weekend.
Week 5 will be huge, with Year 6 on Camp Monday-Wednesday and Year 5 Grandparents morning on Tuesday, 16 August. We close the week out with the College Solidarity Mass and Walkathon on Friday 19 August.
All of these events have details and communication on the APP already or in some cases, invitation will come home next week.
In this Edition of the Primary Newsletter, you can also read about Curriculum Updates, Music, Date Claimers and Lauries Journey Awards.
Enjoy the next fortnight.
Kind Regards
Cameron Wigan
