Dean of Primary - Term 1 Edition #1
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to the new school year. I especially welcome all those families new to the Lauries community. We hope that you feel welcome already and that you have an amazing Lauries Journey this year and in the future.
The boys have made a very positive start, and Week 1t has certainly been full of excitement and energy around Primary. Each fortnight, there will be a Primary Newsletter emailed to parents and posted to the College App. The first full issue will be at the end of Week 3, Friday 9 February and I strongly encourage you to take a few minutes to read this newsletter each fortnight. It will contain all relevant information specific to the Primary and will also include updates and information about key events.
We will also use the College APP to communicate with families, but it is essential for parents to read the notifications and action any RSVP’s etc as required.
There will be a lot of information in the coming weeks (and all year to be honest) to help you remain organised and prepared. Please keep an active eye out for emails and App notifications to ensure the boys are prepared for a very fulfilling and busy term.
We thank all those parents who were able to attend the Primary Information Night last Thursday. We hope that the content allowed you to be well prepared for the start of the year and that hearing from the staff looking after the boys will also open strong lines of communication.
Please remember that settling in will take time. Please be patient with both the boys and staff as they establish routines and relationships early in the term. The presentation notes/slides are available on links below and the video recordings will be sent home early next week.
You can also access the “Staff Contact List” below.
Two items I would like to highlight at this early stage are:
- If your son will be absent from school, could you please notify via the following:-
- College App
- Email the Primary Office primary@slc.qld.edu.au
- Phone 30101142.
- All uniform items (including lunchboxes) should be clearly labelled to prevent the loss of personal items. Lauries is a large school with lots of lost gear, so unlabeled items are difficult to return to the correct owners.
Enjoy the first weekend to rest after a busy Week 1. We look forward to supporting the boys and working in partnership with all families through 2024.
Regards
Cameron Wigan
